4. WORLD WATER FORUM - MEXICO 2006 |  The UN millennium declaration demands to halve the proportion of people who are unable to reach or to afford safe drinking water until 2015. The 4th World Water Forum, taking place in Mexico City in March 2006 under the main theme “Local Actions for a Global Challenge”, aims officially at enabling multi-stakeholder participation and dialogue to influence water policy making at a global level. ECOFAIR TRADE DIALOGUE |
EcoFair Trade Dialogue is a new project carried out by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in cooperation with Misereor and moderated by the Wuppertal Institute. It is an international dialogue established on the current developments and conflicts surrounding agricultural trade negotiations within the WTO.

WTO CONFERENCE 2005 |  From 13-18 December, 2005, the 6th WTO Ministerial Conference will be held in Hong Kong. For those in favor of the current, neo-liberal trade system, the summit's aim is to advance the conclusion of the Doha "development round" of further trade liberalization. Critics all over the world instead want to use the opportunity to save environmental sustainability, development, human rights and gender equality from the at times hazardous impacts of economic globalization as it works today. Globalization: Agriculture and international trade In order to stimulate the debate around the issues of Globalization, the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Brazil has supported the study “THE G-20: ITS ORIGIN, EVOLUTION, MEANING AND PROSPECTS”. The text points out the big news brought by the G-20 (group of developing countries lead by Brazil) to the stage of international negotiations. The most important one seems to be the very fact of a bloc of peripheral or developing countries, united in proposals and strategy, could be created to influence the direction of international negotiations in a central area (not just a marginal one) in the continuation of the Doha Round of the WTO.
